Hamas comments on ceasefire announcement

Hamas issued a statement regarding the announcement of the ceasefire agreement and the cessation of the aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The movement described the ceasefire as the result of the “heroic steadfastness” of the Palestinian people and their “brave resistance” in Gaza, which had lasted for over 15 months. Hamas stated that the agreement marks an important achievement for not only the people of Gaza but also for the entire nation and the free people of the world.

It described the ceasefire as a significant turning point in the ongoing war with the enemy, one that brings the Palestinian cause closer to its ultimate goals of liberation and the right of return.

The statement emphasized that the agreement was made out of responsibility toward the steadfast population of Gaza, who have endured “Zionist aggression” and are subjected to continuous bloodshed, massacres, and genocide. Hamas expressed its commitment to halting this aggression and bringing an end to the suffering of the people.

Furthermore, Hamas expressed its gratitude and appreciation for all those who stood in solidarity with Gaza, both officially and from grassroots movements, as well as those who helped expose the occupation and push for the ceasefire. Special thanks were extended to the mediators, particularly Qatar and Egypt, for their significant efforts in achieving the agreement.
