In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the JFDA said its rapid response teams, in coordination with the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and the Royal Department for Environment Protection, raided several locations and confiscated the expired meat. The raids uncovered the practice of altering production dates to extend the meat's shelf life.
FDA Director General Nizar Mheidat attributed the operation to intensified joint efforts involving meticulous monitoring and tracking processes.
The seized meat has been quarantined pending its disposal in accordance with regulations, Mheidat said.
He added that legal action is underway against the company involved, which is identified as a major enterprise.
