South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported that South Korea's Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) is preparing to arrest President Yoon Suk Yeol and investigate him on charges of rebellion and abuse of power.

According to an official statement from the CIO, the Seoul Western District Court issued President Yoon an arrest warrant.

This action follows his abrupt decision to declare a military state of emergency earlier this month, which has sparked controversy regarding its classification as an act of rebellion.

The report also highlighted that President Yoon's powers have been suspended since December 14, after the opposition-dominated National Assembly voted to impeach him. The Constitutional Court is expected to decide soon whether he will be permanently removed from office or reinstated.

Additionally, authorities are investigating whether the declaration of a state of emergency violates the constitution, while President Yoon continues to ignore requests to appear for questioning and allow searches of his office.
