Israeli Occupation detains Kamal Adwan Hospital director in Gaza
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday that the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) detained Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern region, along with members of his team, and took them for interrogation.
The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed on Friday that this operation has rendered the hospital, the last major health facility in northern Gaza, non-operational.
In a related development, the Civil Defense in Gaza announced that the IOF arrested Ahmad Hassan Al-Kahlout, the director of Civil Defense in the northern governorate, early Saturday. This action is seen as part of the ongoing destructive approach towards humanitarian and relief efforts in the region.
The Gaza Civil Defense statement noted that Kahlout's arrest came after the occupation had completely halted the operations of the Civil Defense in the northern governorate on October 22.
The IOF previously detained 22 Civil Defense personnel from both the Gaza and northern governorates, and their current status remains unknown.
