Cold air mass brings rain, freezing temperatures to Jordan
The coastal areas of the northern Levant are currently experiencing intermittent rain from passing low-pressure systems, with effects extending to Jordan, bringing scattered showers, particularly in northern regions, over the coming days – per ArabiaWeather.
Rain and hail expected on Friday
On Friday morning and afternoon, localized rain showers are anticipated, potentially accompanied by hail over the peaks of northern and central mountains. The overall weather is expected to be cold.
Fog and rain on Friday night
As Friday transitions into Saturday, rain is forecast intermittently in Irbid and the northern parts of Ajloun, with a chance of fog formation due to low cloud cover. Limited rain may persist in northern areas, especially in Irbid, into Saturday morning.
Rain early next week
Higher chances of rain are predicted from Sunday night into Monday, particularly in northern regions. The Arab Weather team is closely monitoring the potential for a broader low-pressure system to impact Jordan from Monday night into Tuesday, which could bring rain to wider areas.
Sharp drop in temperatures
The cold air mass will intensify on Friday, causing temperatures in Amman to drop to around 9°C, significantly below the seasonal average. Most regions will experience cold conditions, with active southwesterly winds enhancing the chill.
Nighttime will bring extremely cold conditions, particularly in the Badia and Sharah mountain peaks, where temperatures are expected to dip below freezing.
