Lebanon’s Hezbollah has chosen a burial site for its former Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah – sources told Saudi news outlet Asharq Al-Awsat.

Hezbollah chose a plot of land along the old road leading to Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport, which is also expected to turn into a shrine for Nasrallah.

The group will also hold a joint public funeral procession for both Nasrallah and its former Executive Council chief Hashem Safieddine, who was expected to take Nasrallah’s place, but was killed in an “Israeli” airstrike.

The report by Asharq Al-Awsat added that Safiedddine will be buried in his hometown of Deri Qanoun in Deir Qanoun an-Naher in the district of Tyre, south Lebanon – per his wishes.

The same sources spoke of September’s pager explosions, saying that investigations are ongoing to identify the parties responsible for importing the booby-trapped communication devices.

After a ceasefire was reached in Lebanon, Hezbollah’s priorities are now conducting a “comprehensive assessment of its recent phase and evaluating its losses, particularly in terms of fighters.”

“The party is also focused on adjusting its strategy for the future,” the source added to Asharq Al-Awsat.
