Jordan weather forecast: Cold wave to end soon
Jordan has been gripped by a cold wave since the beginning of the week, driven by a Siberian high-pressure system. Nighttime temperatures have plummeted to near-freezing levels across much of the country, particularly in the eastern plains, creating frigid conditions.
The cold wave's impact is expected to diminish on Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures rising by 2-4°C. The weather will be sunny and relatively cold in the highlands, while other areas will experience mild conditions. The Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba will see warmer temperatures, with some high-altitude clouds appearing, especially in southern regions – per ArabiaWeather.
Winds will be moderate from the southeast, occasionally picking up on Thursday and stirring dust in open areas. Nights and early mornings will remain notably cold.
Over the coming days, high temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-20s°C in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba, creating mild to warm conditions during midday and afternoon hours. Elsewhere, including the capital, Amman, highs will range from 16°C to 18°C. Despite the overall moderation, daytime weather will stay cold to very cold in the eastern plains and desert areas, where temperatures may drop near freezing at night.
On Friday, temperatures are expected to drop further, with partly cloudy skies gradually giving way to scattered showers, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms.
Winds will shift to moderate westerlies to southwesterlies, intensifying by midday in parts of the eastern and southern regions, where they may raise dust and reduce visibility in the eastern and southern deserts.
