"Israeli" army announced on Tuesday the death of another soldier during ongoing battles in the southern Gaza Strip.

The soldier, identified as Maj. (res.) Moshiko Maxim Rozenwald, 35, was killed on Monday in clashes in southern Gaza. Rozenwald served as a company commander in the 7107 Engineering Battalion under the Nahal Brigade.

This brings the total number of "Israeli" soldiers killed since October 7, 2023, to 817, with 385 of those deaths occurring since the launch of the ground operation on October 27.

Additionally, the "Israeli" army reported that 5,490 soldiers have been injured since the start of the war on Gaza. Of those, 801 are in critical condition, 1,369 sustained moderate injuries, and 3,320 had minor injuries.

Background to the Conflict

On October 7, Hamas’ military wing, the Qassam Brigades, launched Operation Aqsa Typhoon in response to "Israeli" violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In retaliation, "Israel" launched its military offensive, Operation Iron Swords, against the Gaza Strip, carrying out intense airstrikes across the region. The attacks have resulted in hundreds of deaths, thousands of injuries, and widespread destruction of residential buildings, infrastructure, and institutions in the besieged Gaza Strip.
