Former Amman municipality employee detained for fraud, job scams
Jordan’s Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIAAC) Prosecutor, Dr. Mohammad Bani Taha, has ordered the detention of a former Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) employee for one week at Marka Correctional and Rehabilitation Center.
The employee allegedly defrauded a citizen by accepting money in exchange for false promises of securing municipal jobs for his children.
According to the commission's statement, the accused, who previously held the position of division head, also fabricated a shop closure order and claimed he could reverse it in return for bribes.
The prosecutor has charged the suspect with fraud and abuse of office. This case was previously referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office by the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission.
