Two Palestinian prisoners martyred in Israeli Occupation jails
The Palestinian Authority's General Authority of Civil Affairs informed the Palestinian Prisoners Society on Friday of the martyrdom of two prisoners, Samih Aliwi from Nablus and Anwar Aslim from Gaza, in Israeli Occupation prisons.
Details about the circumstances of their deaths were not disclosed.
Aliwi, a prominent leader in Hamas, was arrested on Oct. 21, 2023. He had previously been detained multiple times, spending many years in "Israeli" prisons, primarily under administrative detention. Aliwi is also the father of Palestinian traveler Motasem Aliwi.
With the martyrdom of Aliwi and Aslim, the total number of known prisoner martyrs since 1967 has reached 280. This figure does not include numerous other martyrs whose identities and the circumstances of their deaths remain concealed by the "Israeli" authorities, as well as other detainees who were executed.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, the number of martyrs among prisoners has risen to 43, based on reports from relevant institutions.
As of early November 2024, over 10,200 prisoners are being held in "Israeli" jails, with the occupation continuing its practice of enforced disappearances against hundreds of Gaza detainees in military camps.
Among these prisoners are 96 women, at least 270 children, and 3,443 administrative detainees, including 31 women and 100 children, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Society.
