Kremlin denies reports of phone call between Putin, Trump
The Kremlin dismissed claims of phone discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump following Trump’s victory in the recent US presidential election.
The denial came in response to a report published by The Washington Post on Sunday, which suggested such a conversation had occurred.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov firmly rejected the allegations, describing the report as "completely fabricated" and "false." Peskov clarified that there had been no such contact between the two leaders, asserting that any future communication would be made public.
Peskov also reiterated that Russia's diplomatic relations with the US remain grounded in official channels. He highlighted Moscow's interest in potential cooperation with the incoming US administration, emphasizing that such collaboration must align with mutual interests and contribute to global stability.
