Biden, Netanyahu call to discuss attack on Iran held in “positive atmosphere”
US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris spoke Wednesday with “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the White House said, as the Israeli Occupation is currently weighing its response to last week's missile attack by Iran.
"This morning, President Biden spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel. Vice President Harris also joined the call," the White House said in a statement, adding a readout would be released later – per Agence France-Presse (AFP).
The phone call lasted 50 minutes, Netanyahu’s office told The Times of Israel.
Hebrew Channel 12 said the call was held in a “positive atmosphere” – citing an “Israeli” official, adding that it focused on the response to the Iranian attack.
The report added that Biden urged Netanyahu to plan for the “day after” the ground operations in Lebanon.
No readout has been issued by both sides yet. Netanyahu and Biden last spoke on August 21.
On Tuesday, Netanyahu had a five-hour meeting with senior ministers and military and intelligence officials to discuss plans for the attack.
Officials told Axios the “Israeli” attack on Iran is expected to be significant, and will likely include a combination of airstrikes on military targets in Iran and clandestine attacks.
