His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, visited King Hussein Medical City today to oversee preparations for the upcoming Jordanian field hospital, "Obstetrics and Neonatology/Khan Younis," which will soon be deployed to Gaza.

In the presence of Chief of Staff Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti, His Majesty expressed pride and gratitude to the personnel of the Royal Medical Services for their dedication and continuous efforts in supporting their Palestinian brothers and sisters in Gaza and the West Bank.

During his tour of the hospital's departments, King Abdullah received a briefing from Major General Dr. Youssef Zureikat, the Director General of the Royal Medical Services. He detailed the operational plan for the hospital, which is being established in collaboration with the Pious Projects of America and will comprise 82 medical, nursing, technical, and administrative staff.

The hospital, situated adjacent to the Jordanian field hospital in Khan Younis/4, will feature four delivery rooms, 30 post-delivery beds, and eight incubators in the neonatal unit, as well as additional support departments.

According to Zureikat, the Royal Medical Services has been operating a field hospital in Tel Al-Hawa, Gaza, since 2009. During the recent conflict, another field hospital was established in Khan Younis, which has been providing services since 2023, alongside a field hospital in Nablus.

Additionally, the "Restoring Hope" initiative was recently launched in Jordan to provide prosthetic limbs to amputees in Gaza. This program employs advanced techniques that enable amputees to walk on the same day. Operations began after two mobile clinics and a medical team arrived in Khan Younis on September 16.
