On Friday evening, the “Israeli” military launched a series of intense airstrikes targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut – shortly after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations.

“A short time ago, the IDF attacked the central headquarters of the terrorist organization Hezbollah, located under residential buildings in the heart of Da'aheh in Beirut,” the IOF claimed in a statement.

“As of this time, there is no change in the directives of the Home Front Command. We will update on any changes immediately on the official platforms of the Home Front Command,” the statement added.

Reports indicated that ten explosions rocked the suburbs between Burj al-Barajneh and Haret Hreik.

Hebrew channel Kan reported that the 'Israeli' military targeted Hezbollah’s headquarters, where most of the surviving Hezbollah leadership are believed to be.

The primary target was Hassan Nasrallah, though it remains unconfirmed if he was present at the time – the report added.

Hebrew media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu abruptly left a meeting with journalists in New York as the attack on Beirut's southern suburbs unfolded.

Residential buildings in southern Beirut were leveled by the strikes, which resulted in a large number of casualties – per Roya’s correspondent.
