- Overview -

On Tuesday, simultaneous explosions of communication devices in Lebanon resulted in eight fatalities and injuries to over 2,800 people across several cities.

Hezbollah confirmed that the explosions involved pager devices used by its members in various units.

- Hezbollah's response -

Hezbollah has attributed the attack to the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), condemning them as treacherous and criminal.

The group vowed retaliation, promising a response at an unforeseen time and place.

Hezbollah reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian resistance, emphasizing that defending the Palestinian cause remains a source of pride.

- Pager technology explained -

Raed Al-Rimouni, a physics researcher, explained that pagers operate using radio frequency communication.

They receive messages via radio waves transmitted from towers. Each pager has a unique frequency and identification number, called a capcode.

The devices involved were Rugged Pager AR924 models from Apollo Gold, known for their durability and long battery life.

- Tampering mechanism -

Rimouni noted that while pagers are challenging to hack due to their lack of internet connectivity, tampering is possible.

The device’s electrical signals can be altered by modifying its antenna and RF receiver, leading to overheating and explosions.

- Health Minister’s report -

Lebanese Health Minister Firas Al-Abed reported that the explosions resulted in eight deaths, including a child, and 2,750 injuries, with 200 cases critical.

The Ministry of Health urged hospitals to be on high alert and advised those with pagers to dispose of them immediately.

Medical personnel have been called to assist with the large number of injured.

- "Israeli" response -

Hebrew media reported on Tuesday that the Israeli Occupation Forces' Northern Command, intelligence, and military are on high alert after explosions of Hezbollah’s communication devices in Lebanon resulted in the deaths of 8 people and injuries to over 2,800 others.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority (IBA) announced that alert levels have been raised at all ports, including Eilat.

Senior officers have been called for urgent security consultations at the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv.

Additionally, Israel Hayom reported that Tel Aviv is bracing for potential retaliation from Hezbollah.

Officials at the Ministry of Transport are actively preparing for possible scenarios at Haifa Port, Ben Gurion Airport, and other key locations.
