Jordan condemns Ben-Gvir’s plan to build Synagogue in Aqsa Mosque
Jordan condemned today the remarks made by the extremist “Israeli” National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir regarding the establishment of a Jewish synagogue within the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
It denounced these statements as a violation of international law and an unacceptable provocation that demands a clear international response to condemn and counter them.
Jordan reiterated its unequivocal rejection and strong condemnation of the extremist “Israeli” minister's statements, which fuel a policy of extremism and seek to alter the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its holy sites by imposing new realities supported by an exclusionary, bigoted narrative.
It emphasized that the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, in its entirety, spanning 144 dunams, is a sacred place of worship for Muslims alone.
The Jerusalem Islamic Waqf, under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the sole legal authority responsible for managing all affairs of Al-Haram Al-Sharif and regulating access to it – the statement by the Foreign Ministry said.
The Kingdom warned that the continued violations and incitement against Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif by the extremist “Israeli” minister Ben-Gvir aim to impose temporal and spatial division at the site.
Jordan will take all necessary measures to stop the assaults on the holy sites and is preparing legal files to pursue action in international courts against these violations, which constitute a clear breach of international law and represent a dangerous escalation that Jordan will confront by all available means.
