First Olympic medal for Jordan in Paris: Zaid Mustafa heads to -68 KG Taekwondo final

Jordanian taekwondo athlete Zaid Mustafa has advanced to the final of the under-68 kg weight category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Mustafa reached the semifinals by defeating Hakan Reçber, the Turkish athlete who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics and is the current World Champion.

Previously, Mustafa secured his place in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory over Brazilian player Edival Pontes.

Juliana Al-Sadiq and Saleh Elsharabaty will compete on Friday. Juliana, ranked third in her weight class, will face Navoga Naitasi from Fiji in the Round of 16. In the same round, Saleh Elsharabaty, ranked fifth in his weight class, will compete against Brazilian athlete Ferran Rodriguez.

Jordan's taekwondo participation at the Paris Olympics will conclude on Saturday with Rama Abu Rabe, ranked ninth in her weight class, facing Moroccan athlete Fatima Zahra Abou Faras in the Round of 16.
