Gunfire erupted at Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania, prompting security to rush the former president off-stage.

Trump appeared to fall as he was delivering a speech and was quickly surrounded by armed security, remaining on the ground for about a minute.

He then stood up, pumped his fist in the air, and was escorted off the stage and into a vehicle, which drove him away from the scene. Video footage showed what seemed to be blood on his ear and Trump clutching the side of his head as he fell.

Ohio Republican Senator J.D. Vance urged prayers for Trump and everyone at the rally, expressing his concern on social media. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden, speaking to reporters after church in Delaware, mentioned he had not been briefed on the incident.

Shooter Identified

A video surfaced showing Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old accused of attempting to assassinate former US President Donald Trump, declaring his hatred for Republicans and Trump before the attack. In the video, Crooks stated, "My name is Thomas Matthew Crooks. I hate Republicans and I hate Trump."

Crooks, who appears to have suffered a head wound during the incident, carried out the attack at a Trump campaign rally.

The FBI confirmed at a late-night press conference on Saturday that the shooting targeting Trump was an assassination attempt. Kevin Rojek from the FBI addressed reporters in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was holding the rally when the shots rang out, saying, "This evening, we witnessed what we consider an assassination attempt on our former president, Donald Trump."
