Hebron faces worst “Israeli” settler raid since Oct. 7
Mosques throughout Hebron issued urgent pleas for immediate support in light of brutal attacks targeting Palestinians, local businesses, and the Ibrahimi Mosque in the Old City area.
Israeli settlers raided the sacred grounds of the Ibrahimi Mosque, where they reportedly vandalized its historic courtyard, according to a Roya correspondent.
The attackers defaced significant religious landmarks and made efforts to convert the sanctuary into a synagogue.
Roya correspondents in Hebron confirmed that these assaults represent the most severe escalation since the onset of the war on Gaza.
Reacting to these distressing developments, mosques in Hebron called on residents and defenders to bolster their presence around the sanctuary. They urge for increased vigilance, heightened prayers, and unwavering commitment to protecting the mosque's integrity amid ongoing threats.
Akram Al-Tamimi, Director of Religious Guidance and Mosques at the Hebron Endowments, expressed deep concern over the orchestrated assault.
He described the vandalism of the Ibrahimi Mosque's courtyard, which serves as its sole open space, as a grievous act aimed at desecrating a place of profound spiritual significance.
Tamimi emphasized that such aggression against sacred sites has been a persistent challenge for the past two decades, culminating now in a distressing culmination of longstanding tensions.
