Public Security Directorate arrests 18 in nationwide narcotics crackdown

The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate reported that over the past few days, the Narcotics Control Department handled seven specific cases across various regions of Jordan, resulting in the arrest of 18 drug dealers, promoters, and smugglers.

The spokesperson confirmed that a joint security operation was conducted in Mafraq Governorate and Northern Badia Governorate targeting wanted individuals, drug dealers, and traffickers. This led to the arrest of nine individuals, including some classified as dangerous, and the seizure of narcotic substances and firearms in their possession.

The spokesperson added that anti-drug teams thwarted an attempt to smuggle 50,000 narcotic pills after receiving information about two individuals preparing a secret compartment in a vehicle for smuggling to a neighboring country. The two suspects were arrested, and the vehicle containing the hidden pills was seized.

In Ramtha District, information was received about a drug dealer linked to regional smuggling gangs. After verifying the information and locating the narcotics, the dealer was arrested with 8 kg of crystal narcotics and 14,000 narcotic pills. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are still searching for accomplices.

Additionally, two individuals were arrested in Ramtha District with half a kilogram of crystal narcotics, and a raid in the south of the capital led to the arrest of two dangerous drug traffickers and the seizure of narcotics and live ammunition.

In Karak Governorate, after gathering information on a drug dealer, authorities raided and arrested the individual, seizing 5,000 narcotic pills. Another arrest in Madaba Muruj Governorate resulted in the seizure of hashish and 3,000 narcotic pills.
