Man sentenced for sexually assaulting boy in Jordan

The Grand Criminal Court sentenced a young man in his twenties to eight years of hard labor for molesting a nine-year-old boy. The court found the defendant guilty of indecent assault under Article 299 of the Penal Code.

During a public session, the court established that the boy went to the grocery store where the defendant worked to buy juice. The defendant directed the boy to an area displaying chips. The court's decision detailed that the defendant touched the boy's buttocks over his clothes, claiming he was cleaning dirt off him when questioned by the boy.

The defendant then lured the boy to a nearby storage room under the pretext of giving him something, repeating the assault. When the boy threatened to tell his mother, the defendant tried to bribe him with money or biscuits to keep silent. The boy reported the incident to his parents the following day.
