The foreign ministers of Iran and the Taliban engaged in discussions aimed at coordinating "joint action" against the Israeli Occupation, reported the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD).

Iranian Interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani and Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi conveyed their intentions during a recent phone call.

The dialogue between Bagheri Kani and Muttaqi emphasized rallying member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to increase pressure on “Israel”.

Sources within Hezbollah-associated media outlets have suggested that the Taliban expressed readiness to deploy thousands of troops to combat “Israel”, echoing sentiments shared in Tehran.

Throughout the aggression on Gaza, Iran and the Taliban have reinforced their shared anti-”Israel” stance. Earlier this year, Iranian envoy Hassan Kazemi Qomi even suggested the possibility of Afghan fighters joining the "Axis of Resistance" against “Israel” if required.

In response to Iran's military actions against “Israel” in April, the Taliban publicly supported Tehran's offensive, describing it as a legitimate defense against what they termed the "criminal Zionist regime."

Despite occasional disputes over issues like water rights and refugees, Iran's support for the Taliban dates back nearly two decades, primarily driven by mutual opposition to US presence in Afghanistan.
