Public security renews heatwave warnings, issues safety tips

The Public Security Directorate renewed its warnings due to the current weather conditions and rising temperatures in the kingdom.

The directorate emphasized the importance of following a series of tips and guidelines to avoid incidents of heatstroke and heat exhaustion, especially during the Eid holidays and related social and recreational activities such as picnics and sacrificial offerings.

Key guidelines:

• Avoid direct exposure to sunlight to prevent heatstroke and heat exhaustion, especially in the Badia, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba areas.
• Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, and wear light, loose-fitting clothing.
• Do not leave sanitizers and lighters in vehicles during high temperatures due to their flammability.
• Do not leave children alone in vehicles while running errands and do not allow them to play under the sun, especially during peak hours.
• Wear protective headgear and hats, and take breaks, especially for those working under direct sunlight for extended periods.
• Avoid lighting fires in grassy areas, especially in forests, and stay away from dense vegetation that could harbor reptiles like scorpions and snakes.
• Do not overload electrical outlets with air conditioners, fans, and other appliances on a single power source.
• Do not hesitate to call the emergency number (911) if needed.
