As the Eid Al-Adha holiday approaches, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) announced its regulatory plan to ensure the safety of food and medicine for citizens during this period.

In a press release on Thursday, the JFDA stated that its inspection teams across all branches in the Kingdom are conducting round-the-clock inspection tours as part of the plan.

These inspections, including morning and evening shifts, aim to monitor compliance with health conditions and regulations to uphold the health, safety, and quality of food, especially with rising temperatures.

The JFDA highlighted that the inspections target various food establishments, focusing on those experiencing increased demand during this period. These include shawarma and fast-food restaurants, butcher shops, markets selling fresh and frozen meats, poultry, fish, as well as wholesale markets, warehouses, pastry shops, ice cream parlors, beverage shops, bakeries, juice stands, and coffee roasters. The scrutiny will be intensified for high-risk food items such as meat, poultry, dairy, and foodstuffs.

Specialized inspection teams will continue monitoring food items for suitability, production standards, expiration dates, display practices, and storage compliance. They will ensure that food items are not displayed outside establishments, whether at doors, sidewalks, or outside refrigeration units, to maintain compliance with food handling and storage conditions.

Additionally, random samples of food items will be collected for analysis in the institution's laboratories, along with ongoing monitoring and examination of inspection samples.
