In a recent interview with Al-Araby, senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan responded to remarks made by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, stating that Blinken's comments indicate he is part of the problem rather than the solution.

Hamdan explained that the US administration aligns with “Israel” in avoiding any commitment to a proposal for a permanent ceasefire. He emphasized that Hamas informed mediators that the Israeli Occupation is the one rejecting ceasefire proposals.

Hamdan also called on mediators to provide guarantees to prevent “Israel” from dodging its responsibilities.

In a press conference in Doha with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Secretary Blinken stated that the United States is working to increase aid to Gaza, protect civilians, release captives, and provide a pathway to end the war and rebuild Gaza.

Blinken acknowledged that some amendments proposed by Hamas can be accepted, while others cannot. He stated that the current deal aligns with the one proposed by Hamas on May 6.

He confirmed that "Hamas proposed many amendments to the proposal, and we have discussed those amendments," adding that in the coming weeks, ideas would be presented on governing Gaza after the war ends. He asserted that Hamas would not be allowed to determine the fate and future of the region.

Blinken pointed out that Tel Aviv accepted US President Joe Biden's proposal, but Hamas rejected it. He stated, "Hamas bears the burden of not reaching a deal and the burden of the war they started."
