Qatar clarifies Hamas' stance on Biden's proposal

US President Joe Biden's recent proposal for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in the Gaza Strip remains under review, with no decision made due to the occupation's reluctance and attempts to evade certain conditions.

Meanwhile, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clarified that Hamas has not yet responded to Biden's proposal. Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari emphasized that Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, continues its mediation efforts. He advised against relying on inaccurate media reports and urged reliance on official sources due to the sensitivity of the negotiations.

Hamas leader Osama Hamdan stated that the movement has not received any written commitments for a truce and is focused on Tel Aviv's response to the mediators' proposal.

Hamdan added that Hamas is not open to discussing new ideas unless they include ending the aggression, withdrawing the occupation, and rebuilding Gaza.

He highlighted that mediators have promised to continue pushing for Hamas' demands but noted the difficulty in relying on the inconsistent positions of Israeli Occupation officials, who do not seem willing to stop the aggression.

Biden's proposal, presented last week, outlined a three-stage plan aimed at ending the war, releasing detainees, reconstructing Gaza, and ceasing hostilities.
