Interior, Labor Ministries Address Non-Jordanian Labor Violations-

The government Monday highlighted the legal and health risks of employing non-Jordanian workers in violation of current laws and regulations.

According to a statement received by "Roya," the labor law mandates that employers pay fines of at least 800 Jordanian Dinars per non-compliant worker, covering all related expenses including deportation costs and travel tickets. Violators also face monthly residency fines of 45 Dinars.

Following the enactment of General Amnesty Law No. (5) of 2024, which exempted violators from paying fines for overstaying and work permit penalties, the Ministries of Interior and Labor emphasized the necessity for violating foreigners, including migrant workers, to rectify their status by renewing work permits and residency permits according to the provisions of the Labor Law and the Residence and Foreign Affairs Law. Otherwise, legal actions will be taken against them, including deportation.

The statement also highlighted that all official and security agencies are continuing joint security campaigns at locations where these violating workers are found, to enforce legal actions against them and the employers and individuals employing them illegally, to achieve the aforementioned objectives.

The statement concluded that employing violating workers ultimately negatively impacts public health, as such workers, not possessing necessary annual health certificates, may carry infectious diseases, posing a risk to those they interact with.
