The UN Security Council will reportedly convene in a closed meeting this week regarding the discovery of mass graves in the Gaza Strip, following a request from Algeria - currently a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

The meeting is potentially set for Tuesday.

The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, had called for an independent international investigation into mass graves discovered inside two hospitals in Gaza.

Palestinian authorities reported that over 20 individuals were buried alive, with hundreds of other bodies exhumed from the graves.
