His Majesty King Abdullah II received US Secretary of State Antony Blinken for a meeting attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein at Al Husseiniya Palace, and stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza

He also warned of the dangers of any Israeli Occupation operation in Rafah, noting that the catastrophic effects of the ongoing war on Gaza could expand to include areas in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and potentially the entire region.

King Abdullah underscored the importance of supporting the UNRWA, which he described as a lifeline for about 2 million Palestinians in Gaza, in addition to providing essential services to Palestinian refugees in its operational areas.

He reaffirmed the crucial role of the United States in creating a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which he said is the only way to ensure the security of Palestinians, “Israelis”, and the entire region.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, and the US Ambassador to Amman, Yael Lambert.

Safadi had earlier met with Blinken, where they continued discussions with the Arab group focused on efforts to stop the war on Gaza, address the humanitarian catastrophe, prevent the Israeli Occupation operation in Rafah, limit the deterioration in the West Bank, and the necessity of launching a comprehensive plan to create a political horizon for peace based on the two-state solution.
