The prosecutor general detained the mother who strangled her infant daughter and left her body in plain sight at Al-Awjan Cemetery in Ar-Rusaifah.

In detail, the prosecutor general detained the mother and her partner for 15 days pending investigation at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center, after being charged with first-degree murder.

A close source to the investigation revealed to "Roya" that the baby was born inside the house, and the umbilical cord was cut non-surgically.

The source confirmed that the crime weapon was seized by the forensic lab team.

By tracing the genetic fingerprint of one of the detainees, they were located and arrested in Ar-Rusaifah.

"The detainees attempted to bury the infant's body, but the presence of nearby cemetery neighbors and children playing prevented them from burying her under the soil, leaving the body lying on the ground and fleeing the cemetery." the source added.

Forensic autopsy confirmed that the infant was born and subsequently strangled, resulting in her death, indicating no signs of violence or beating on the infant's body except for signs of strangulation around the neck area.

The source noted that the body was found 24 hours after death, in a state of beginning decomposition.

Investigations are ongoing with the prosecutor general to ascertain the motive and to refer the case to court upon the completion of the investigation.
