Ministry of Labor Spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Zyoud, stated that the number of child labor cases discovered in Jordan in 2023 reached 507 cases.

He added that inspection teams issued 242 violations and 259 warnings against employers who illegally employed children contrary to the provisions of Law 8/1996, emphasizing that the ministry dealt with 126 complaints and reports specifically related to child labor.

He noted that the ministry receives complaints about child labor (labor rights) through the "Hemayeh" platform at https://hemayeh.jo/. Additionally, it receives reports about child labor through the following link: https://childlabor.mol.gov.jo/.

Al-Zyoud affirmed that the ministry, through the Child Labor and Workplace Nursery at the Central Inspection Directorate, will increase the number of inspection campaigns and visits to private sector establishments across various sectors and economic activities this year to ensure they do not employ children.

Furthermore, the ministry will implement awareness-raising activities for the community and parents in schools regarding the dangers of child labor.

He emphasized that the ministry is keen on inspecting establishments in various sectors and economic activities to ensure their compliance with providing nurseries or adopting nursery alternatives to increase women's economic participation.

Additionally, the ministry has started rehabilitating the nursery in its main building to provide better services for the care of employees' children and to promote women's suitable work with the support of the Ministry’s partners, aiming for this nursery to serve as a model for other institutions.

Al-Zyoud added that the ministry is committed during the current year, 2024, to intensifying inspections of private sector establishments across various sectors and economic activities to ensure their compliance with providing nurseries or adopting nursery alternatives. Moreover, the ministry is collaborating with the Ministry of Social Development to establish a joint electronic link regarding institutional nurseries.
