The Minister of Government Communications and Spokesperson, Muhannad Mubaideen, affirmed that the attack Sunday, on the United States base did not occur within Jordanian territory.

Mubaideen stated in remarks to Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTV) that terrorist militias launched strikes at the Al-Tanf US base, which is outside the borders of the Kingdom.

The US military had announced the killing of three of its members in a drone attack on a base in Jordan.

The army pointed out that this is the first time that American military personnel have been killed by hostile fire since the start of the aggression in Gaza.

The US Central Command confirmed in a statement that "on January 28th, three US military personnel were killed, and 25 others were injured in a unidirectional attack (by a drone) targeting a base in northeast Jordan, near the Syrian border."

- Biden vows to respond -

President Joe Biden pledged on Sunday to respond after the killing of three American soldiers in a drone attack on Saturday night, attributing responsibility to factions loyal to Iran.

He pointed out that "while we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq."

Biden vowed to "hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing."
