Jordan evacuates 46 citizens from Gaza

The Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Sunday the evacuation of 46 Jordanian citizens out of 63.

The ministry had previously initiated the evacuation process from the Gaza Strip to the Arab Republic of Egypt through the Rafah border crossing on Saturday.

The evacuation of the 46 Jordanian citizens was facilitated by a ship belonging to the Arab Bridge Maritime Company, in coordination with the Ministry of Transport.

The statement mentioned that the ship arrived at the Aqaba port on Sunday evening, coming from Nuweibaa.

The spokesperson for the Ministry,  Ambassador Sufian Al-Qudah, stated that the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority received and provided assistance, medical care, and transportation to those who wished to travel to Amman.

Additionally, five other evacuees arrived in Cairo. Al-Qudah continued, stating that the total number of Jordanian citizens evacuated from Gaza to the Arab Republic of Egypt through the Rafah crossing reached 712 individuals out of the 1153 registered with the Ministry.

He emphasized that a team from the Jordanian Embassy in Egypt remains present to supervise the evacuation operations on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, ensuring the safety and well-being of Jordanian residents in Gaza. Al-Qudah confirmed the continuation of evacuation operations as long as needed, employing various methods and means.
