The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ruled that Israeli Occupation must take specified measures to prevent genocide in the Gaza Strip.
During the court session on the Israeli Occupation's aggression against Gaza, the ICJ stated that Palestinians are protected under the Genocide Convention, and Israeli Occupation is obligated to prevent direct incitement to genocide.
Israeli Occupation is required to submit a report to the court within a month detailing the temporary measures taken.
The court rejected Israeli Occupation's request to dismiss the lawsuit and emphasized its authority to issue emergency measures in the genocide case.
Additionally, the ICJ recognized the Palestinians' right in Gaza to be protected from acts of genocide and expressed concern about the humanitarian situation, urging Israeli Occupation to improve conditions in the region.
South Africa initiated the lawsuit accusing Israeli Occupation of violating its obligations under the Genocide Convention regarding Palestinians in Gaza. South Africa seeks interim measures to immediately halt the occupation's aggression, initiated on October 7 in response to the Operation Aqsa Typhoon by Hamas's military wing.
