The Arabic Wikipedia temporarily closed its website in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in protest of the “genocide against Gaza,” the site's logo was also changed to feature a Palestinian scarf over the Wikipedia logo.

"In solidarity with Palestinian rights..Stop genocide in Gaza…Stop killing civilians…Stop targeting hospitals and schools…Stop misinformation and disinformation…Stop double standards," the statement reads, which appears when accessing the main page.

Arabic Wikipedia, through its “X” account, called for the blackout on December 22, and further clarified that its articles would only be available for browsing and not editing on the day of the blackout.
