The General Manager of the Arab Bridge Maritime Company, Adnan Al-Abadleh, announced the activation of the Arab line for land and sea transportation between Aqaba and the Egyptian ports overlooking the Mediterranean Sea as an alternative route.

This decision follows the announcement by several major shipping companies to suspend their operations in the Red Sea and transit through the Bab el Mandeb Strait.

During a meeting attended by the Governor of Aqaba, Khaled Al-Hajaj, along with the representative of the Egyptian side, Brigadier General Jamal Mohamed Ibrahim, and the representative of the Iraqi side, Muhyi al-Din Al-Amara, as well as representatives from shipping and customs clearance companies operating in Aqaba, Al-Abadleh emphasized that the Arab Bridge Company quickly fulfilled all the necessary international and technical requirements to operate the alternative route between Jordanian and Egyptian ports overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

This was done by establishing a new maritime route to serve the needs of both land and sea transportation amidst the global maritime navigation crisis in the Red Sea and the Bab el Mandeb Strait.

The alternative route spans from Aqaba to the Egyptian ports on the Mediterranean Sea, including Alexandria, Port Said, and Damietta, in collaboration and coordination with the Jordanian and Egyptian ministries of transportation, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, the Aqaba Development Corporation, and relevant authorities.

Al-Abadleh emphasized the significance of the alternative route for the Kingdom; due to providing an alternative path for Jordanian exports heading to the United States and Europe, especially the exports from industrial zones and agricultural products.

Additionally, the route connects the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea by land routes, diversifying trade routes and reducing transportation costs. This initiative also aims to neutralize trade through ports under the Israeli occupation and take advantage of the benefits offered by the Egyptian side to reduce the cost of transporting Jordanian exports and facilitate their arrival in the United States and Europe.

Moreover, it redirects a portion of the trade from northern Saudi Arabia and eastern Iraq towards the new alternative route, enhancing Jordan's competitiveness and its ability to play a pivotal role in emerging supply routes, reducing the time required for Jordanian exports to reach their final destinations. This promotes flexibility, responsiveness, and confidence, leading to an increase in the activity of the trucking sector in the Kingdom and expanding transit trade through the ports of Aqaba and the Egyptian port of Nuweiba, contributing to raising their competitiveness among regional ports.
