The Gaza Government Media Office confirmed Tuesday that the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) has assassinated 86 journalists and media outlets in Gaza since the beginning of the aggression on the Strip.

The Media Office urged journalistic unions to exert pressure on the occupation to release the detained journalists. It stated that the Israeli occupation aims to assassinate the Palestinian narrative, attempt to obscure the truth, and prevent information and news from affecting the regional and international public opinion.

The statement added that the IOF seeks to intimidate journalists in the field and force them into silence, emphasizing that Palestinian journalists have unprecedentedly contributed to exposing “the IOF’s crimes against civilians, including children and women, with courage and bravery.”

Six journalists were identified who were among the journalists the IOF arrested during the aggression against Gaza, “in a clear and shameful violation of all international laws and conventions,” the statement condemned.

The Media Office sent its highest appreciation and respect to all journalists and media activists who have significantly succeeded in presenting the Palestinian narrative, breaking the Israeli narrative, and exposing the occupation's crimes against civilians, children, and women. It emphasized that the whole world now knows the truth.

The Media Office condemned in the strongest terms the IOF’s crimes against Palestinian journalists. It called on international, regional, and Arab journalistic and media unions, organizations, and bodies to condemn the Occupation’s against Palestinian journalists and to press for the release of the detained journalists who are subjected to investigation, torture, and psychological torture inside prisons and detention centers.
