Various sectors and industries in Jordan began their strike on Monday following a call by activists on social media for a global strike in solidarity with the people of Gaza and in condemnation of the Israeli Occupation's crimes against civilians.
Private companies, various labor unions, institutions, and private schools participated in the strike.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) in Jordan also declared a general strike, closing all its facilities, including its schools, and urging all employees and students to stay at home.
Activists emphasized the necessity of halting economic activity and “all aspects of public life” in all countries.
The activists called for dissemination of the calls for strike and mobilization in preparation of the global strike, which will include the transportation sector, aviation, trade, banks, ports, as well as schools and universities.
