Jake Sullivan, the United States National Security Advisor, has expressed his deep concern over the wounded Jordanian medical personnel injured on Wednesday evening near the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza.

Sullivan expressed his gratitude to the medical personnel delivering critical care to Palestinians in the ongoing catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.

"We are deeply concerned that Jordanian medical personnel in Gaza were wounded in an attack near their field hospital, and we are profoundly grateful to medical professionals providing critical care to Palestinians in Gaza. Their essential role in conflict must be protected," Sullivan tweeted on Thursday.

"Jordan is a critical ally, and we thank [King Abdullah II] and Jordanians for providing support," Sullivan added.

US Ambassador to Jordan Yael Lambert also issued a statement regarding the incident: "I emphasize the White House's concern for the Jordanian medical personnel who were injured in Gaza yesterday in an attack near the Jordanian field hospital, and I send my heartfelt wishes to them for a speedy recovery. The United States is committed to our longstanding and enduring partnership with Jordan and our Jordanian partners as they support humanitarian assistance efforts in Gaza."

Seven members of Jordanian field hospital staff in Gaza were injured at the entrance of the emergency department while attempting to provide urgent medical assistance. The injuries sustained by the staff ranged from minor to stable.
