King, Belgian PM discuss Gaza crisis, regional stability
King Abdullah II discussed the serious deterioration in Gaza with the Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexander De Croo, in Brussels on Monday. He warned against reaching a point of no return and sliding towards a regional war.
His Majesty reiterated the call to work for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to protect civilians, cautioning against the expansion of the conflict to the West Bank and the eruption of tensions in Jerusalem.
King Abdullah, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, emphasized the continuous need to deliver food, medicine, water, and fuel to Gaza. He also called for the ongoing support of international organizations operating in the Strip.
His Majesty affirmed that military and security solutions will not succeed in ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and that the only way is a political solution to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
Belgium's Prime Minister reaffirmed his country's position calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and the need to provide aid to the sector, as well as compliance with international law and the protection of civilians.
Ways to enhance cooperation between Jordan and Belgium in various fields were also discussed. King Abdullah highlighted the depth of bilateral relations and the commitment to strengthening them.
The Prime Minister expressed his country's keenness to expand the prospects of cooperation with Jordan as a key partner in the region.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, King's Office Director Jaafar Hassan, and Jordan's Ambassador in Brussels Sajida Al-Majali.
