The White House reported on Monday that US President Joe Biden and Israeli Occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

The White House stated that a temporary ceasefire would allow for the distribution of humanitarian aid and the release of detainees in Gaza.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States is intensifying pressure on Tel Aviv to reduce its airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed the crisis in Gaza, the delivery of aid, and the prevention of further escalation during his meeting in Ankara.

He added: "Our efforts continue for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza as the number of casualties, particularly among women and children, continues to rise."

Blinken also stated that the United States is doing its utmost to secure the release of detainees held by Hamas.

He affirmed that Washington remains in contact with Tel Aviv to take steps to reduce civilian casualties and deliver aid to Gaza.
