Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the opening of Papua New Guinea's embassy in Jerusalem.

Ambassador Sinan Al-Majali, the official spokesperson for the ministry, issued a statement on Thursday, deeming this move as unacceptable and condemned. He described it as a flagrant and significant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

Majali emphasized that any actions or decisions aiming to alter Jerusalem's status or its legal position are null and void, holding no legal weight. He reiterated the importance of achieving a just and comprehensive peace as the sole means to attain a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions. This solution should culminate in the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the June 4, 1967 borders.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, reiterated Jordan's supportive positions within the collective Arab effort and regional cooperation. He emphasized the significance of Arab dialogue and political solutions as the foundation for addressing crises in brotherly countries. Safadi stressed that this approach contributes to enhancing stability, peace, and regional security while preventing further deterioration and crises in the region.

Safadi also highlighted Jordan's continuous efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He discussed the committee's ongoing efforts to mobilize international support against illegal occupation measures in the city.
