Authorities urge controlled air-conditioning usage during heatwave

The National Center for Security and Crisis Management issued warnings and instructions ahead of an expected heatwave.

Jordan will be affected by an extreme heatwave starting Saturday and hot weather is expected to prevail across all regions of the Kingdom.

Temperatures will be higher than usual rates by 8-10 degrees Celsius, and nights are expected to be hotter than usual.

-Instructions-

  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, especially around noon, and drink plenty of fluids.
  • Avoid starting fires in forests or lands with dry shrubs and weeds.
  • Do not leave children unattended inside vehicles.
  • Do not leave sanitizers inside vehicles, as they contain flammable ingredients.
  • Only swim in designated places.
  • Beware of limited horizontal visibility due to dust
  • Regulate the use of air-conditioning to mitigate the risks of overloading electrical systems.
