Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the burning of a Holy Quran copy by extremists in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Ministry issued a statement which said that it views this act as an expression of hatred and an example of Islamophobia that fosters violence and disrespects religions.

The Ministry firmly rejected and denounced such irresponsible actions that inflame the emotions of Muslims, promote hatred, and jeopardize peaceful coexistence.

Emphasizing the need to address the recurrence of such racist acts, the Ministry called on the international community to unite efforts in confronting and preventing such actions.

It also urged the enactment of laws criminalizing insults to religious symbols and sanctities, the promotion of a culture of peace and acceptance, and the advocacy for values of mutual respect, harmony, and tolerance.

Additionally, the Ministry stressed the importance of rejecting extremism, fanaticism, and incitement to hatred.
