In the early hours of Saturday, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) - the Arab Army announced their utilization of 214 tons of water over the past two days to extinguish the fires that erupted in the Safsafa and Wadi al-Shamiya forests.

Situated between the governorates of Jerash and Ajloun, the challenging terrains of the area had hindered the access of civil defense vehicles to the fire site since Thursday evening.

To combat the fires, three aircraft were deployed on Thursday evening, including two Super Pumas and one MI-26, providing assistance in the firefighting efforts.

Earlier, the Minister of Agriculture Khaled Al-Hunaifat confirmed the ministry's active monitoring of the reignited fire in the Wadi al-Sham forest, situated between the governorates of Ajloun and Jerash.

Hunaifat stated that the Jordanian Armed Forces/Royal Air Force has dispatched aircraft to assist in containing the fire.

The resurgence of fires is attributed to the return of winds in challenging terrain, according to Hunaifat.
