The second half of July will witness a rise in temperatures, which will be higher than the usual rates during this time of year, according to the Executive Director of the Arabia Weather Mohammad Al-Shaker.

He stressed that the upcoming heat wave is not classified as "harsh," as temperatures will drop from time to time, noting that the wave will reach its peak by the end of this week.

He added that the hot air mass, originating from the desert of the Arabian Peninsula, will start affecting Jordan Wednesday.

The rise in temperatures will be "clear", especially during the noon and afternoon hours, he explained.

He pointed out that the temperatures in the eastern regions of the capital and the southern regions of the Kingdom are expected to reach the late thirties in Celcius.

Shaker added that higher mountainous areas will also witness higher temperatures than the usual figures during this time of year.

Temperatures in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba could reach around 45 degrees Celsius by the end of this week.

Shaker advised citizens and residents to avoid direct exposure to sunlight for long periods of time, increase fluid intake and refrain from leaving flammable materials, such as sanitizers, inside vehicles.

He also warned against leaving children in vehicles, even if for short periods of time.
