The Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced the evacuation of 161 Iraqi citizens from Port Sudan in Sudan.

This comes in response to distress calls from Iraqis seeking to be rescued from the ongoing war in Sudan.

The evacuation was conducted through the third plane designated for this purpose. In a previous operation on April 27, Iraq evacuated 234 people, including Syrians, from Sudan.

Iraqi President Abd al-Latif Rashid has called on the United Nations to provide support for the 600,000 displaced Iraqis who are facing challenging conditions.

He emphasized the need to strengthen the relationship between Iraq and the United Nations to address the issues related to the displaced and promote economic development in the country.

The United Nations expressed its commitment to supporting Iraq in various areas such as water management, training, studies, energy, and investment encouragement.
