The first day of Eid al-Adha in many countries worldwide is likely to fall on Wednesday, June 28, announced the International Astronomy Center Sunday.

The director of the International Astronomy Center Mohammed Shawkat Odeh said that the Islamic month of Dhu Al Hijjah is expected to begin Monday, June 19. Eid Al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah, the 12th and last month of the Islamic calendar.

The Islamic holiday Day of Arafah, which falls on the day before Eid, will be on Tuesday, June 27, and Wednesday, June 28, the first day of Eid al-Adha, he noted.
