The UK Ambassador to Jordan, Bridget Brind, said that the coronation of King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, will be a historical event for the United Kingdom.

Brind added, in an exclusive interview with Roya on Friday, that the coronation ceremony will have a wide resonance all over the world with leaders from around the world attending the ceremony.

The Archbishop of Canterbury will crown on Saturday, King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, at Westminster Abbey in the capital, London, according to the ambassador.

Brind explained that in addition to the old rituals, the ceremony will also include contemporary and personal touches that reflect the role of the King and his look to the future.

The Archbishop, Justin Welby, will anoint King Charles’ forehead with holy oil prepared in Jerusalem according to specifications set by the King, using only plant-based ingredients.

The coronation will be based on traditions, but will also reflect the contemporary and multicultural United Kingdom, pointing out that King Charles will use the occasion to promote his priorities such as youth, society, diversity and sustainability.

Other elements include the ceremonial robes, the Sovereign's Orb, golden scepter and a 700-year-old throne known as the Coronation Chair - which sits atop the 'Stone of Destiny' that was used for the coronation of Scottish kings.

And she confirmed that the king would wear, upon his coronation, the crown of St. Edward, made of pure gold, which was made for King Charles II in 1661 and studded with 444 precious stones, including sapphires and amethysts.
