The Eastern Military Region thwarted Sunday evening an infiltration and smuggling attempt coming from Syrian territory, which resulted in the killing of a smuggler while others retreated back to Syria.

An official military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) - the Arab Army, said that the border guards, in coordination with the military security services and the Anti-Narcotics Department, dealt with a group of people who tried to cross the borders illegally from Syrian lands into Jordanian lands.

The source indicated that after searching the area, they found and seized 133,000 Captagon pills, a Kalashnikov, and quantities of ammunition.

The source affirmed that the JAF will deal firmly and decisively with any infiltration or smuggling attempts in order to protect the borders and arrest those who tamper with national security.
